Miss Sophie’s Hostel is located in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. The hostel is designed like a boutique hotel, with colourful and chic decorations and a modern design.
The hostel is part of bohemian hostel chain, although this particular hostel is more boutique than bohemian. Miss Sophie’s has a centric location and a design that is the cross section between simple luxe and fine arts. The hostel was built in 2004.
The hostel is located in an historical building which is known for its irregular architecture, the inside of which has been decorated by a team of architects and designers. The hostel has several dormitories, private rooms and apartments available to guests, many of whom travel either on business or on short sightseeing trips to the city.
There are several types of rooms and apartments at the hostel, and each one of them has free WiFi access. The walls of each room are painted in pastel colours with bright patterns and bohemian murals on top. Smoking is not allowed at the hotel, and only some rooms have air conditioning.
The dorm rooms at the hostel have several beds and bunk beds. Each bed has its own socket, a small shelf with an individual lamp and a private drawer underneath the bed which serves as a wardrobe and has a lock. There is one bathroom per two rooms, and the bathrooms are large, with several separate toilet and shower stalls. Guests can rent towels and for a small deposit they will be able to use hair dryers, ironing boards, alarm clocks and socket adapters. Price is around 15€ per person.
The private rooms are larger with more comforts, such as a a safe, a small refrigerator and a wardrobe with several shelves. These rooms have air conditioning and a landline phone. The bathroom has towels and a hairdryer. These rooms have free WiFi connection and cable television. The furniture has a futuristic look about it and the walls are covered in different patterns. Price is around 46€ per night.
The apartments at the hotel are designed as suites. There is a master bedroom with a double bed and a walk in closet, a lounge with a sofa, and a working area complete with a desk and patterned chair. There is a kitchenette with coffee and tea making machines, an oven and other amenities. Price can reach 55€ per apartment per night. Like the rooms, the apartments have WiFi. Guests are provided with free towels, and have a safe, cable television, a hair dryer and paintings by the Czech painter Zora Mazácová.
The reception desk and lobby are open 24 hours a day, and have free WiFi. Both on the day of arrival and on the day of departure, the hostel offers luggage storage. The people who work at this hostel are all multilingual, making communication less of an issue, and sell special maps that offer discounts at some places. There are several telephone booths from where guests can call at a lower rate.
The ground floor houses the lounge and the kitchen. The brick covered lounge has several bright leather sofas and a huge television screen with a large collection of DVDs. This common area is connected to a terrace with views of the city.
Miss Sophie’s is located in Prague’s New Town, a neighbourhood built by King Charles IV in the XIVth century. Guests are only a few blocks away from the Old Town, a place filled with historical landmarks. The New Town has many different bars, coffee shops, restaurants and all kinds of shops, while the Old Town is focused more on the cultural heritage of this monument filled city. The hostel is near a tramway stop, allowing guests to explore the rest of the city.
