Kokopelli’s Cave is a bed and breakfast located in New Mexico, Unites States. The hotel is a luxurious cave, and the ideal holiday destination for those who enjoy hiking.

Originally, the cave was built as an office for a geologist, but later on it was transformed into an unusual hotel. The cave has an area of 150 squared metres, and is spacious enough to accommodate several guests.

Guests arrive at the small house, and a guide then guides them towards the cave entrance. The entrance to the cave can be found inside a cliff, 21 metres under sea level. The hotel is 85 metres above the La Plata River, and it has been carved directly inside the rock.

The Kokopelli’s Bead & Breakfast has only one guest room, and is a favorite amongst those passionate about hiking and trekking. This place is a relaxing place ideal for traveller’s who want to spend some quality time away from large cities and the crowds. Price per night is around 160€ for one or two guests, and rises to 186€ for three or four guests. This hotel has a fridge and a pantry for the guests to use, and are always full of food. The decoration of this cave is modern, with a thick carpet, southern style furniture, hot and cold water, a bathroom with a shower and a bathtub as well as a well equipped kitchen.

This curious hotel can be found north of Farmington, near the Mesa Verde National Monument. From both the cave and the cliffs, guests will be able to enjoy truly remarkable views towards Four Corners. Four corners is a national landmark where four states, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah, meet. There are also several mountain ranges nearby, such as Chuska and La Plata mountains, and several Native Indian reservations full of traditional and fascinating cultures.

The Stanley Hotel in Estes Valley, near Denver, Colorado, in the United States, is a curious hotel with lovely mountain views. This hotel is 2,286 meters above sea level, and is regarded as one of the most historic hotels in the United States.

This hotel is located amongst mountains, near the Rocky Mountain National Park, and views towards the Rocky Mountains can be enjoyed from most rooms. The Stanley Hotel belongs to the National Register of Historic Places, and is a member of the Historic Hotels of America. This hotel is sometimes thought to be haunted. One of the most famous novels by Stephen King was written during his rather curious stay at this hotel.

This hotel dates from the year 1900. The Classic Double Double is the largest room, with classical hand carved furniture, two large double beds and an enormous wardrobe. The Double Double room is located in the main building, and it costs around 114€ per night, although the price may vary according to the season. The Deluxe King Room is a newly renovated room that is located in the historic main building, and is one of the most spacious rooms at the hotel, complete with an exquisitely furnished decorated interior. Guests can watch TV on a large 42 inch screen or relax in the colossal private Jacuzzi in the bathroom. This room, which costs around 179€ per night, has the best views towards the mountains.

There are also several private villas. Both the one room villa and the two room villa cost around 269€ per night. All the villas at this hotel are near the main building, and are designed as small winter mountain houses. Each one of the villas has several rooms, a fully equipped large kitchen, a stone chimney and other small luxuries, as well as impressive views from the windows.

The three and four bedroom villas are much large, with spacious rooms, and an elegant, classic decoration. These villas cost around 335€ per night, and give one the impression that they are lounging in their own private house in the mountains.

One of the most interesting features of this hotel is the possibility of taking a guided ghost tour. Several groups are organized, and as the visitors go from one room to another, the guide offers them interesting stories about the surreal legends of this hotel. Undoubtedly, room 217 and room 401 are the most wanted rooms at this hotel, since they are both said to be haunted, Legends says that room 217 is a haunted room, and it was there that the famous writer Stephen King wrote his novel “The Shining“. Room 401 is the favorite room of ghosthunters, since apparently several spirits live there. Other people say that room 418 also has its own ghosts who wander around. Many people who have already visited this hotel say that they have heard animated voices and music coming from the deserted dinging hall, while others have heard a certain being playing the piano in the empty ballroom.

For an extra cost, guests can enjoy and savour delicious truffles, fresh fruit and the best collection of cheeses directly in their rooms. Guests can also rent the ball room or the restaurant if they want to celebrate a major or an important event. There is also a large conference room, fully equipped with Internet via WiFi. All the rooms at this hotel also have a good Internet connection. The restaurant has an impressive wine menu, and guests can enjoy the opportunity to savour an exquisite dinner in a large room decorated with water fountains and a large chimney while they listen to live music.

Hotel in a Retro Trailer

The Belrepayre Airstream Europe Hotel is located in France. This curious hotel consists of several trailers which transform traditional camping into new, luxurious camping trips.

Seven traditional Airstream trailers, legends of the American highways, are decorated in a retro fashion. All trailers have been refurbished in their new home at the foot of the Pyrenees. Each trailer has its own hammock, a truly retro black and white TV and some really breathtaking views. All trailers have their own bathroom and solar powered electricity.

The three star camping site allows its guests to rent a large caravan for a couple of days if they want to explore the region. This hotel was created in 2003, and it has a territory of more than 23 hectares. Beautiful views of the mountains and the nearby country of Andorra open before the visitors eyes.

Each one of the seven Airstreams has its own backyard designed in a retro style. Each garden has a comfortable hammock, a bench, and several technological gadgets that make the guests visit more comfortable, all of them disguised in a 1950’s style.

The hotel has a total of seven trailers available for guests. Each trailer can accommodate two or three people at any given time. Price per night is around 100€, but it is recommended to call the owners in advance to check for availability and special offers. Furthermore, if guests call the owners earlier, the owners might be able to arrange a shuttle bus that would take visitors from the nearest towns or airports to the hotel. However, one must remember that this hotel is open only during the summer months.

The eighth caravan is another refurbished Airstream which has been turned into a trendy bar, called the Apollo Lounge. The Apollo Lounge hosts several concerts and often live music is played during lunch or dinner hours. One can enjoy some good music while sipping a relaxing cocktail. Sometimes, an open air cinema is organized near the Apollo  lounge, allowing guests to enjoy movies under the fresh Andorra air.

The owners of the hotel, Perry and Coline, along with the rest of their team can organize camping trips for up to 50 people. This hotel is the best place for those who love nature and would love to live the retro experience. If guests want to organize a big celebration, the hotel can provide them with a good catering service which specializes in delicious and organic meals. The catering service also prepares a wide variety of local dishes. This hotel is also a good place for those who like or want to learn to play cricket, since the hotel has a large, even field which is usually used for cricket and other sports.

Depending on the dates, guests might be able to enjoy a vintage trailer and vintage car fair, where many owners of such vehicles come to the hotel for a yearly meeting. Visitors can enjoy the hotel spa, an open air hot Jacuzzi and a massage room, as well as barbecues and several activities such as painting. Fresh croissants and organic fruit are sold on the hotel grounds. Near this hotel, only one hour away, tourists might enjoy visiting the historic towns of Toulouse and Carcassone. Several IXth and XIIth Century castles are located nearby, as well as bamboo and bison farms and the medieval city of Mirepoix. Each one of the suites costs between 300 and 410€ per night, but those cabins on shore cost between 285 and 300€ per night, although price may vary according to the season. In order to actually get to the hotel, visitors must first get to the small and charming city of Neuchâtel, which is only 10 minutes away from the hotel, where they can take the free express bus from the city.

Each suite has its own double bedroom and bathroom, and even the big windows make this place a quiet and peaceful one since the hotel was designed in a way that one cannot see the adjacent rooms from another room, but instead can enjoy the rather marvelous views of the lake. Each room has the best quality comfortable furniture and the best technologies. The guests who decide to stay at this hotel can enjoy a plasma TV, a music player and a computer in their rooms.
