Roommate Hotels, chic design in four hotels in Madrid

The Roommate chain of hotels has chic hotels in several countries. Each hotel is named after a common given name and is decorated according to the architectural style of the neighbourhood where it is located.

The city where most Roommate hotels are located is Madrid, and guests can choose between the Alicia, Laura, Mario and Oscar hotels. Each one of these hotels has an individual style and have been designed by young local artists.

Alicia.

Roommate Alicia is located in Santa Ana Square, in the city’s historical centre. Nearby guests will find the Botanical Gardens and the Golden Triangle formed by the city’s three major art museums.

The hotel has 34 Standard, Executive, Junior Suite and Duplex suite rooms, all of them with large windows. The Duplex rooms have a small swimming pool, and the Junior and Duplex suites have large bathtubs with views towards the square. Price starts from 95€ for a standard room and is around 275€ for a Duplex suite.

The hotel’s rooms were designed by Pascua Ortega and have an avant garde theme. The hotel is located inside an old industrial building that has views towards the center of the city.

Laura.

This hotel is located in the Las Descalzas district, a neighbourhood known for its shops, bars and restaurants where guests can enjoy traditional tapas. A short distance away guests will find the Plaza Mayor, the city’s central square, and several of the city’s historical landmarks.

The hotel has 36 Studio, Loft, Chic Loft and Suite apartments. The decorator Thomas Aliá created these spacious apartments that have a bedroom, a working area, a bathroom and a kitchenette decorated with contemporary renditions of art. Price varies between 99 and 130€ per night.

The hotel is located inside a new building that was constructed in an antique style that is present in most antique buildings. The lobby has twenty meter high ceilings.

Mario.

The hotel is located in the historical centre of the city, next to the Gran Via, one of the city’s main arteries. A short distance away from the hotel guests will find the Royal Palace and the Sabatini Gardens.

The hotel has 54 Individual, Standard, Executive and Junior Suite rooms. All rooms have a bedroom with a bathroom, a minibar, a safe and Internet access. There are rooms adapted for people with mobility issues. In each room there is a double four poster bed with illuminated posts and a working area with Philip Starck lamps. The bathrooms have a separate room for the sink and the shower. Price varies between 70 and 120€ per night.

This hotel was designed by Tomas Alia and is decorated in blacks and whites. There is an Internet room with several computers and a reading room in the lobby. The hotel’s conference hall can be rented for events.

Oscar.

The Oscar Hotel is located in the Chueca neighbourhood, known for its gay friendly bars, chic clubs and restaurants. The hotel is only a short distance away from the Gran Via and the city’s historical landmarks.

This hotel is located in a chic building with a dark façade covered with colourful lights. There are 74 Standard, Deluxe, Junior Suite and Suite rooms. There are rooms with wheelchair access, and some rooms have large balconies. All rooms are decorated with designer furniture and have a double bed, a bathroom, a minibar, a safe and Internet access.

The hotel’s terrace is located on the hotel’s top floor and has a swimming pool with views towards the city. Next to the swimming pool there is a lounge area where guests can celebrate events.

The staff in the lobby can suggest restaurants, buy tickets for shows and call taxis for guests. This hotel has its own conference room that can be rented for events and meetings. The conference rooms was designed in a typical Tomas Alia style.
