The Arena Hotel is located in Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. The hotel’s historical building used to be a church that later transformed into an orphanage, in a residence for third age citizens and later on into a hostel.
Rooms.
The hotel has 116 double rooms with tall ceilings, a minimalist design and bathrooms with a bathtub. Price for a room is between 76 and 209€ per night.
Each room is decorated in an individual style, with colourful furniture and large paintings of historical figures. The bathrooms are spacious and large bathtubs and showers. All rooms have Internet access, a telephone and a television set.
The rooms are decorated in shades of white, and the bathrooms are decorated in blacks. The Deluxe rooms, with twenty squared metres of space, are the smallest rooms at the hotel. The twenty five square metre Studio rooms have a large master bedroom. The Suites have thirty square metres of space and are the largest rooms at the hotel.
Restaurant.
The hotel has a restaurant where guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner, and there is a separate bar and a cafeteria. There is a disco with two halls.
ToDine is a restaurant that specializes in international and national cuisine where guests can taste a wide variety of sandwiches, salads and complete menus. ToDrink is a coffee shop with a lounge and a terrace where guests can enjoy a drink and snacks from several regions. The coffee shop has access to the garden, which is decorated like a lounge with chairs and cushions where guests can sit and enjoy their food and drink.
Conferences.
The hotel is a business oriented hotel. Corporate events and meetings of up to 1200 people can take place at the hotel. The hotel can coordinate and organize events according to the guest’s needs.
There are small and large conferences rooms, and each one is decorated in a different style. The conference rooms are the Garden Hall, Convent Hall, the Church Hall and the Meeting Room. During the summer months events can take place on the terrace.
Location.
The hotel is located in a building built in 1800 that has been recently remodelled. The building was first built as a church, and later on became a nursing home, then St. Elizabeth orphanage and then a hostel. The interior design of the hotel reflects its history and its new amenities have been integrated in the historical design. Several Dutch designers have participated in the hotel’s décor, which has light wooden floors, high ceilings and white walls.
The hotel is located in a quiet area of the city close to the city center. The city’s central station that communicates the city with the rest of the country and the airport is only a short walk away. The Anna Frank Museum, the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum are conveniently located less than four kilometres away from the hotel. Nearby attractions include Amsterdam’s Artis Zoo and the city’s main streets, which are filled with bars, boutiques, coffee shops, flower markets and restaurants.
