Kasbah du Toubkal, a hotel with the Berber experience

The Kasbah du Toubkal Hotel is located in the Moroccan mountains. This hotel is a traditional rural house where guests will be able to live the authentic Berber experience.

The Berber Experience.

The hotel is located in the Toubkal National Park. The Kasbah was built to resemble a traditional dwelling typical of this region and welcomes both those who have come looking for a refuge in the mountains and those who are looking for a place to relax.

Accommodation.

There are several types of accommodation options available with views towards the valleys. The cheapest form of accommodation is to stay in the Berber Halls, large rooms designed for groups and families travelling together. One hall can accommodate up to seven guests and the other can accommodate up to twelve guests.

The 30 Standard rooms are decorated in shades of white and ochre and have a double bed and a bathroom. Some of these rooms are located inside the small towers decorating the top part of the hotel. There is hot water in the bathroom and thick bed covers on each bed. Price is around 160€ per night. The Deluxe and Superior rooms are larger and have more traditional decorations, and their price is around 220 and 250€ per night.

The three largest rooms are the Superior Ensuite Private room and the two Deluxe Ensuite Private rooms. These three rooms have large windows and a private balcony. The separate bathtub and shower in the bathroom were hand crafted. These rooms can be either double rooms, twin rooms, or triple rooms.

Next to the hotel there is a smaller building, an annex that can accommodate up to six people. The 125 square meter annex is known as the Garden Suite and has a 12 meter long glass wall with views towards the Jbel Toubkal. This private house has three double rooms with bathrooms, a kitchen, a large living room and a terrace with mountain views. Price is 790€ per night.

The entire hotel can be booked for a short break. There is enough space for 26 people and guests will have all the hotel’s personnel at their service. The common rooms have many table games, a library and a radio.

Tradition.

Upon arrival, guests can wash their hands with rose water. Dates covered in milk and other dry fruits are offered to guests when they arrive at the hotel. The hotel has a rooftop terrace with mountain views where guests will be able to enjoy traditional dishes accompanied by mint tea.

Guests will be able to get to learn some aspects of the Berber culture and their traditions. Trekking excursions and overnight trips are organized in the nearby mountains and in the Toubkal National Park, where guests will be able to climb North Africa’s highest peak.

Location.

The hotel is located in the Azzaden Valley and from the outside looks like a traditional village house. This hotel is an ecological hotel where the heating is powered by solar panels.

There is a chauffeur service offered by the hotel that will take guests on a tour of Imlil or Marrakesh. The hotel can organize the whole trip, from plane ticket reservations to any other extra services during the trip.

The hotel is located in a village near the Jbel Toubkal mountain, the highest mountain peak in the region. There are around ten other traditional villages nearby, all of them located 1800 meters above sea level. Around 60 kilometers away from the hotel is Marrakesh, known for its colourful markets.

Sarah Hotel, a yacht in the Venetian Lagoon

The Sarah Hotel is a bed and breakfast built inside a yacht located in Venice, Italy. The yacht is docked near the center of the city and has views towards the Venice lagoon.

Rooms and prices.

This floating hotel is located in one of the ports in the lagoon of Venice. There are several types of rooms for guests inside the yacht, and the whole yacht can be rented during the summer months. From the rooms guests can enjoy views of the Grand Canal.

The yacht has a total of nine double rooms, each one of them in a cabin. Each one of these cabins has its own bathroom with a shower, sink and toilet. The cabins are equipped with air conditioning, heating, radio and a television set.

Six of the rooms are double rooms with a bunk bed, and the other three are larger suites with a large double bed. Double rooms cost 120€ per night during low season and 140€ per night during high season. The suites cost from 180€ per night during low season to 280€ per night during high season. During Carnival time and the New Year festivities a supplement is paid each night.

Breakfast and Dinner.

Guests will be able to enjoy a continental breakfast directly in the yacht. Dinners on board consisting of traditional Italian dishes are served for those guests who make a reservation in advance. If guests decide to rent the yacht and spend a whole week sailing the Mediterranean sea, they will be treated to breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Price.

A week long cruise costs between 990 and 1240€ per person and covers a large part of the Mediterranean, reaching the coast of Croatia. Price includes seven nights in a double cabin with a bathroom, three meals per day and the cost of the fuel.

Deck and Living Room.

The yacht’s living room can be used as a common room and is decorated with wooden furniture and several sofas. This room has Internet access. On the deck guests will find a terrace where they will be able to enjoy a snack and a drink while sunbathing with views towards Venice.

Events.

A great variety of events can be organized on board. Guests will be able to enjoy mini cruises along the coast and participate in nautical fairs. Guests will be able to celebrate their anniversary, wedding, birthday or any other event. The yacht can be rented for conferences, conventions and meetings, and the staff can cater lunch and dinner for up to 10 people.

Location.

The yacht is docked near the island of Giudecca, close to the historical center of Venice. There are several public transport stops nearby and guests are only ten minutes away from the main train station and St. Mark’s Square.

Cruises and Day trips.

Those who choose to the rent the yacht for a whole week will be provided with catering service throughout the duration of the drip. Depending on the days the guests are willing to spend exploring the region, the crew can lead the yacht around the Venice lagoon, the Po delta or on longer trips around the coast of Croatia and Slovenia. The hotel organizes day trips around some of the city’s landmarks, such as the Grand Canal, St. Mark’s Square, Burano, Murano island and the Lagoon of Venice.

Esbelli Evi, a cave hotel with fairy chimneys

The Esbelli Evi Hotel is located in the region of Cappadocia in Turkey. This hotel is the first boutique hotel built in the area, and its ecofriendly approach integrates the building with the natural landscape.

Building the hotel.

Part of this hotel was built taking in account the caves and other natural formations of the region. The doors and windows have been adapted to the rock formations, and the hotel’s natural staircase is the result of years of erosion. Like many of the local structures, the hotel was built with fairy chimneys which are considered one of the region’s top tourist attractions. The interior design of the hotel reflects the country’s cultural aspects, with thick red carpets covering the floor, Ottoman style furniture and lace curtains.

Suites.

The hotel has ten suites. The rooms are all different because they were built following the outline of the rock’s natural structure. Each room has a double bed, a traditional regional décor and a bathroom.

All the rooms have a flat screen television set with hundreds of channels from all over the world, and are equipped with CD and DVD players, a radio, climate control and kitchenettes and fridges. Guests will be able to enjoy free WiFi and will have free access to laptops. Each room is provided with complimentary bottles of water, reading material and free coffee and tea. Price varies depending on the suite and the season, and the minimum price is of 80€ per room per night.

Some of the suites can be converted into connecting rooms to accommodate families travelling together. The connected suites can accommodate up to six people. The Labyrinth suite is a stone suite. The master bedroom is a large cave with a bathroom adapted to the crevices in the rock. There is a guest bedroom with bathroom which is connected to the living room. The suite has several terraces.

The Winepress suite is located above the ancient wine press. The master bedroom has a kingsize bed, and the guest bedroom has a double bed directly above the wine press. The bathroom is connected to the kitchen and the living room, from where guests can access the semiprivate terrace.

The Volcano Stone Cave is a dark coloured suite since it is located near a layer of volcanic rock. Near the kitchen guests will find the bedroom with a domed ceiling, the living room and the bathroom. Behind one of the ancient doors there is a previously hidden tunnel. This tunnel is a XVIIth century, 16 kilometer long water tunnel inside the volcanic rock.

The Colorband Cave is a colourful suite. The volcanic rock in tis suite is filled with minerals which create several colourful hues reflected in the bathroom, the bedroom and the living room.

The Hillside Suite is located on one side of the hill where the hotel is located. This suite has a bedroom with a bathroom and a living room with a private terrace and a private entrance.

Breakfasts, halls and terraces.

Guests who stay at the hotel will have access to the hotel’s cafeteria. The hotel provides guests with complimentary continental breakfasts made from local products. Other common areas include a home cinema room, an event hall with a piano, a Turkish hall and several terraces with views towards the natural structures formed centuries ago.

Re!Hotel, a colourful retro hotel with themed suites

The Re! Hotel is located in Singapore. This small boutique hotel has a clear retro style, with each room decorated by a different team of architects, artists and designers.

The hotel has twelve floors and 140 different types of rooms. Each floor at the hotel is painted in a different colour, and all the rooms on a floor follow the same theme. Glymur Hotel, fjords and Northern Lights

The Glymur Hotel is located in Hvalfjodur, in Iceland. This Nordic hotel stands on a hill and has views towards the fjords and is a place where guests can enjoy the Aurora Borealis.

The hotel has 23 colourful rooms and two suites, all of them decorated with works of contemporary art from all over the world. The rooms are duplexes, with the double bedroom and the bathroom located on the top floor and the living room on the ground floor. The living room has a leather sofa and a television set. All bathrooms have heated floors. The rooms can have views either towards the fjords or the mountains.

The suites are larger than the double rooms and are decorated with bright designs and leather sofas made by hand. The bathroom at each suite has a hydromassage bathtub. The Aurora.

Many of the guests who stay at this hotel do so for one main reason, to be able to witness the Aurora Borealis, the Northern Lights. The hotel is located above the Hvalfjordur hill and has views towards the natural fjords.

Concept.

The hotel was designed by a group of architects. The whole building was reconstructed and redesigned into 38 spacious suites with a different design each filled with many works of art.

The Turmalina Suite, another of Tarcila Piva’s creations, is decorated in beiges and greens. The suite has a retro style. The living room is covered by Persian carpets and has a large glass table, and the marble bathroom has a hydromassage bathtub.

The Topaz Suite , by Joy Garrido, is a suite decorated in mellow yellow shades. The suite has views towards Leblon Beach. The Carrara marble bathroom has two sinks and a jacuzzi, and the bathroom has a kingsize bed with views towards the sea. The dining and working spaces are located to wither side of the living room.

The Diamante Suite was designed by Pedro Paranaguá. This spacious suite has a red and white bedroom next to a bathroom with a shower, and a large living room with marble floors and a dining hall with an American kitchen.

Another Piva suite is the Cristal Design suite, the hotel’s largest suite. The bathroom has large windows with views towards the sea opening from the Jacuzzi. The living room has leather furniture. The master bedroom has a large kingsize bed and many artworks, and the extra bedroom has two individual beds.

Restaurant.

The hotel has a very well known restaurant, the Bar D’Hotel, a bistro specialising in Brazilian cuisine with a touch of international gourmet dishes. Many celebrities from all over the world come to this retro chic place.

In the balcony of the hotel guests will find the Bar do Lado bar, conveniently known as the next door bar. Guests and visitors will be able to enjoy a wide range of cocktails and tapas with views towards Leblon beach.

Gym, lounge and swimming pool.

On the rooftop guests will find the hotel’s pool, which has views towards the ocean. There is a gym with a sauna, and guests will be able to enjoy massages in the wellness area. On the ground floor there is a lounge area and a small theatre where guests can watch movies.

Conference room.

Location.

The hotel is located only a couple of minutes away from a large mall, the Zona Sul, and there are many bars, coffee bars and restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. The hotel is located in the Leblon neighbourhood, south of the famous Ipanema beach. The hotel is not considered to be in the touristy part of the city and is seen as a very chic place to stay, with many boutiques and gourmet restaurants lining the nearby streets.

Hotel Luxx XL, zen design in Bangkok

The Luxx XL Hotel is located in Bangkok, in Thailand. This boutique hotel combines a modern architecture with swimming pools and gardens designed in a traditional manner.

Design and Philosophy.

This small hotel’s philosophy is that everything should be chic. The hotel has seven floors and a large territory with several common areas and gardens. The hotel’s 12 metre long infinity pool is a salt water pool that allows guests to relax while observing the views.

Rooms and Suites.

The hotel has 34 studios and 17 different suites. Each room has a bedroom with a large bed and a bathroom, and some of the more spacious rooms have an extra bedroom. The rooms are decorated with hand made beds, carved furniture and a minimalist décor.

Three main materials are used in the rooms, polished stone, stainless steel and teak wood. There is a balcony in each room and the bathrooms follow the typical Luxx hotel style, this meaning they are divided in several partitions. There are several flat television screens, CDs and DVD’s, and WiFi available throughout the hotel. All rooms have a coffee and tea making machine and complimentary bottled water. Guests will be able to enjoy a continental breakfast for 6€ per person.

The Studio rooms are the smallest and cost 52€ per night. They can have either a large kingsize bed or two individual beds, a spacious bathroom, a separate working area, a lounge area, a pantry and a balcony.

An ancient mansion and themed photo shoots

The Old Colehurst Manor is an antique mansion located in Shropshire, England, in the United Kingdom. The mansion has been recently remodelled and is now a large hotel known for its events.

Architecture.

The first mansion was built in the XIIIth century, when it was used as a lodging for monks of the Order of St. Benedict. Centuries later, in 1580, the mansion was reconstructed by an aristocratic family, and King Charles I stayed here for a time. In 1986, after many different owners, the mansion was converted into an hotel.

This Elizabethan mansion is considered a building of historical interest. It has been reconstructed and remodelled several times throughout the years, and with each new owner it has acquired new annexes and a more modern design, all the while conserving the historical structure. The floors are hardwood floors, with oak panels decorating the walls and fireplaces in each room.

Rooms and Prices.

The mansion has 9 rooms. Four of these rooms have antique four poster beds, chimneys and separate bathtubs and showers. All rooms have traditional XVI and XVIIth century décor with the latest technologies.

Fred’s Chamber is a double room with a shared bathroom. Price is 112€ per night. The Lady in White room is a spacious room with a kingsize bed and a shared bathroom, which costs 136€ per night. The Priest’s House room has two double beds and a shared bathroom, with a price of 136€ per night. The hotel is located in Shropshire, a small historical town in England. This small town is well communicated with larger cities by several national highways. Manchester and Birmingham are only one hour away from the hotel. The building has an elevator almost identical to the building’s first elevator, which in turn was one of the first ones in the country. Rooms and Prices.

Each one of the 62 rooms at the hotel comes with a fireplace. The rooms have plenty of natural light, wooden floors and furniture upholstered in materials of varying shades of gold. Each room has a queensize bed and cotton bed linen. There is a spacious working space with natural light. The hall leading to the bathroom has a table with fresh fruit, and the bathroom itself is made from Italian marble and has make up and shaving mirrors, huge towels on heated towel rails and thick bathrobes for each guest.
