Original Hotels

The Arena Hotel is located in Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. The hotel’s historical building used to be a church that later transformed into an orphanage, in a residence for third age citizens and later on into a hostel.

Rooms.

The hotel has 116 double rooms with tall ceilings, a minimalist design and bathrooms with a bathtub. Price for a room is between 76 and 209€ per night.

Each room is decorated in an individual style, with colourful furniture and large paintings of historical figures. The bathrooms are spacious and large bathtubs and showers. All rooms have Internet access, a telephone and a television set.

The rooms are decorated in shades of white, and the bathrooms are decorated in blacks. The Deluxe rooms, with twenty squared metres of space, are the smallest rooms at the hotel. The twenty five square metre Studio rooms have a large master bedroom. The Suites have thirty square metres of space and are the largest rooms at the hotel.

Restaurant.

The hotel has a restaurant where guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner, and there is a separate bar and a cafeteria. There is a disco with two halls.

ToDine is a restaurant that specializes in international and national cuisine where guests can taste a wide variety of sandwiches, salads and complete menus. ToDrink is a coffee shop with a lounge and a terrace where guests can enjoy a drink and snacks from several regions. The coffee shop has access to the garden, which is decorated like a lounge with chairs and cushions where guests can sit and enjoy their food and drink.

Conferences.

The hotel is a business oriented hotel. Corporate events and meetings of up to 1200 people can take place at the hotel. The hotel can coordinate and organize events according to the guest’s needs.

There are small and large conferences rooms, and each one is decorated in a different style. The conference rooms are the Garden Hall, Convent Hall, the Church Hall and the Meeting Room. During the summer months events can take place on the terrace.

Location.

The hotel is located in a building built in 1800 that has been recently remodelled. The building was first built as a church, and later on became a nursing home, then St. Elizabeth orphanage and then a hostel. The interior design of the hotel reflects its history and its new amenities have been integrated in the historical design. Several Dutch designers have participated in the hotel’s décor, which has light wooden floors, high ceilings and white walls.

The hotel is located in a quiet area of the city close to the city center. The city’s central station that communicates the city with the rest of the country and the airport is only a short walk away. The Anna Frank Museum, the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum are conveniently located less than four kilometres away from the hotel. The Nhow Suite is a 250 square meter suites designed for artists and musicians. Guests who stay at this suite have access to the recording studios, which have views towards the city. These suite has two floors, one of them with a piano, and an 110 square meter terrace. The suite has a bedroom with a bathroom, a kitchen, a living room and a private conference room. Those guests who stay at this suite can organize private events and will have personnel at their service.

Restaurant.

The hotel’s restaurant is Fabrics, a place dedicated to international cuisine. Guests will be able to enjoy informal lunches made from organic regional ingredients and formal dinners.

The hotel’s large bar hosts events and guests will be able to enjoy DJ performances. The bar is connected to the hotel’s terrace, a one square kilometer space connected to the Spree river.

The Suites are spacious and have a double room and a living room with a sofa. These suites have views towards the Eiffel Tower. Price is between 293 and 475€ per night.

Breakfast.

The breakfast hall has a girly touch, with boudoirs, wooden chairs decorated with hand crafted roses and light colors. Guests can enjoy a traditional English breakfast elaborated with organic products.

The Superior King rooms are large rooms with a kingsize bed. The Superior One Bedroom suites are one bedroom suites with a kingsize bed and a living room with a sofa.

The Terrace One Bedroom rooms are the largest suites, with a bedroom with a kingsize bed, a living room with a sofa and a small balcony with views towards Park Avenue. A Two Bedroom Suite can be created by joining two Terrace One Bedroom suites. These suites have two bedrooms, two bathrooms and two living rooms with a balcony.

Restaurants and Extras.

The hotel offers several services to its guests, providing mineral water and daily press during the whole stay. For an extra 14€ guests will be able to enjoy an European breakfast, and for 10€ they will be able to enjoy coffee, sodas and tea during the day.

The hostel has special prices for groups of more than 15 people. Design and History.

The Clink 78 Hostel combines more than 200 years of history with the latest design. The hotel has managed to preserve the hotel’s two court rooms and seven jail cells. The courtroom that is now the television lounge was the place where The Clash had to stand in the dock for shooting prize winning pigeons, and the courtroom that is now the Internet room is said to be the place that inspired Charles Dickens to write Oliver Twist.

Location.

This Magistrate’s building is more than 200 years old. The hotel is located only 10 minutes away by foot from King’s Cross Station and St. Pancras. The building is located in central London, and it a short underground trip away from the airports, railway stations and the Eurostar.

The Treehotel is located in Harads, a small town in Sweden. As one can expect from its name, this hotel is formed by several tree houses, although all of these come with a twist.

About the hotel.

Before arrival guests will have to check in at the nearby guest house, Brittas Guesthouse, in Britta. This is the place where breakfast, lunch and dinner are served, and guests will be able to enjoy the sauna and the spa. Britta’s restaurant is known for its local traditional food, typical of Northern Sweden. The Treehotel is located five minutes away.

The Treehouses.

The Treehotel is formed by six tree houses, and each tree house has at least one double room with a bathroom. Each tree house has its own theme and an individual décor.

The rooms are located between four and six metres above ground. Each cabin has between 15 and 30 square metres of space. In order to get to their rooms, guests will have to go up either a ramp, a staircase or a metal stair. Price is about 190€ per night for one person and can reach 488€ per night for a double room with extra beds.

Some rooms have two twin beds, while the larger tree houses, those considered as family tree houses, have three or four beds. Each cabin has a small living room. The bathrooms are ecological. The tree houses have large windows that allow in a lot of natural light.

The Bird’s Nest tree house is a contrast between its exterior and its interior design. The exterior resembles a giant bird’s nest. The tree house has circular windows between the branches. The inside of the tree house is modern and spacious, with a double bed and two twin beds with amenities.

To get to the Blue Cone room guests will have to go up a hill and climb an especially designed slope.  This tree house has a more traditional design and is made of wood, with windows styled as plastic domes. This tree house has two floors and can accommodate up to four people.

The Cabin is one of the highest cabins, with views towards the valley of the river Lule. This cabin, with curved edges, looks like a capsule and has a double bed and a terrace.

The Mirrorcube cabin is a large aluminium carcass covered by mirrors. The effect is not what one might expect, since the cabin reflects the trees around it, masking it. The mirrors are covered by an infra-red layer in order to stop animals and birds bumping into it. The large windows have views towards the valley. The inside of the cube has a double bed, a separate bathroom, a living room and a small terrace on the roof.

The cabin known as the UFO is a large flying saucer that seems to have just crashed from outer space and into the trees below. The entrance has a circular door and the interior is modern. This tree house has two floors and can accommodate up to four people.

The A Room With A View cabin has some of the best views towards the forest and towards the town of Harads. This cabin has a large bedroom, a bathroom and a dining and living room elevated at different levels. There is a terrace decorated with several pine trees on the rooftop. The interior of the tree house is covered by wooden panels which create a natural look.

The hotel is open all year round. Each cabin has heated floors, and the heating is turned on during the winter months. The energy used at the hotel comes from alternative ecological resources.

Extras.

The hotel has its own sauna with a maximum capacity for twelve people. The saunas are typical in this region, and guests will be able to enjoy this traditional activity while they relax in the heat of the sauna and the coolness of the water. Visiting a sauna is a must after a long day skiing.

Activities.

Guests will be able to enjoy a wide range of activities during the summer and winter months. During the summer months guests will be able to kayak, explore the region by bicycle, trek along the trails and participate in organized nature walks. During the winter months guests can take long walks in the mountains, fish in the frozen lake, practice skijoring, go mushing and ride in a real sled. Guests can go horse riding all year round.
