The First World Hotel is undoubtedly one of the largest hotels in the world. It is located in the Genting Highlands Resort, in Malaysia. This hotel has several floors, and has its own mall, several parks, an open air and an external amusement park and a hotel on the rooftop.
This hotel is the third largest hotel in the world when it comes to the number of guestrooms. The gargantuan hotel has a whooping 6,118 rooms available for visitors. However, the hotel itself occupies only a very small part of the building, since apart from the guestrooms, one can find a megamall, a tropical forest and even an amusement park. This giant, whose bright, colourful façade cannot be easily missed, also happens to have a wide variety of entertainment options.
The main building is made up by two towers, and each tower has 28 floors. In order to get to the hotel, which stands atop a mountain, guests will have to take the fastest cable car in the world, which travels at around six metres per second.
The hotel also has more than 80 different shops and stores, around 90 different restaurants specializing in food from all over the world, and even a large casino. The most adventurous guests will be able to try their luck at the Starworld casino or else sing the greatest hits in one of the 50 karaoke bars.
The First World Hotel has several types of rooms, although most rooms are simple standard rooms with a double bed, a bathroom and views towards the city. The Standard rooms can either have a double bed or two twin beds, while the Standard View rooms have the same characteristics but with better views. The Deluxe rooms are slightly more spacious, and can either have a double queensize bed or two individual beds. The smallest rooms are 19 square metre rooms, but the Deluxe ones are larger.
Price per night varies according to the type of room and season.A Standard room can cost around 23€ per night, while a Standard View costs around 25€ per night and a Deluxe room costs around 27€ per night during the low season. The World Club rooms are exclusive suites with their own fridge and sofa. All rooms are painted in bright, jovial colours and have windows facing the city that spreads below their feet.
The hotel does not cease to surprise its guests. Its colourful façade stands like a beacon dozens of metres above the city and the main lobby is designed like a traditional Spanish courtyard and is located in a tropical forest. Hotel guests will be able to enjoy different cuisines from all over the world in one of the hotel’s 11 restaurants. Several of the most notable dining places are Ristorante Torcello’s, which serves the best Italian food, as well as the First World Café and the Hou Mei Noodles House, where guests will be able to taste many of the different varieties of local noodles.
Since the hotel itself occupies the top floors of the building, the lower levels are made up of over 46, 000 square metres full of shops, bars, restaurants, casinos and amusement parks. There is a large stage in the middle where each week guests will be able to enjoy magic shows or concerts. One of the most curious aspects of the hotel is the small replica of the Times Square that stands on one level, with the nearby Statue of Liberty looking over it. The hotel also has an interior water park with an enormous pool, as well as the first free fall simulator in Asia. This hotel is also in the Guinness Book of World Records since it is the largest hotel complex by number of rooms.
