Hotel with flower frescoes

The Bloom! Hotel is a lovely hotel in Brussels, in Belgium. This curious hotel has 302 spacious rooms, where even the smallest rooms, with an area of 30 square metres, has enough space for a sleeping and a working area. All rooms at this boutique hotel have curious and unique decorations.

There are several types of rooms which vary in size, starting from the small L! rooms to the much larger XXL! rooms. All rooms are double rooms with a private bathroom, a double bed or two twin beds and a working area with a desk, a chair and an ergonomic chair. Price per room varies according to its size, but the minimum price is around 62€ for a small room per night.

Some of these rooms also have special facilities. Some rooms are designed for people with limited mobility, while others can be adapted for families and children, and some are usually used by celebrities who want to avoid the press.

Each room has a large double bed, an office space, Internet access, a safe, a large flat TV screen which can also be used for listening to music, a Senseo coffee machine, a small fridge and even some small details such as comfortable armchairs and footstools. From some of the rooms, guests will be able to enjoy panoramic views of the city towards famous monuments such as the Grand Palace Tower, the Koekelberg Basilica or the Atomium.

All rooms have a unique style with different decorations, frescoes and a personal theme. One of the most intricately designed rooms is Room 201 L!, where white walls are covered with a monochrome, black and white theme. Another curious room is Room 208 L!, painted in golden colours that remind one of the autumn season. Room 301 is an organic room, painted in both smooth and shiny colours, while Room 303 is solely dedicated to airport symbolism. Room 424 is full of flowers painted in light blue, creating a very rustic, natural atmosphere, while Room 427 has walls peppered with small rose petals.

All XL! rooms are spacious rooms which have two comfortable armchairs designed specifically for the comfort of their guests. Room 535 has walls decorated with an abstract mural painted in several different colours and representing the roots of flowers, while Room 536 has immaculately white walls with a fresco of a single flower exploding in several colours.

The XXL! rooms are larger than the rest, with more working space, the ideal place for workaholics. Along two joined twin beds, this space also has a sofa bed. One of the lofts, Room 824, has a vibrant decoration full of clashing colours with a breathtaking atmosphere, and all other lofts also have their own, unique signature.

Most rooms have a common theme. Even the name of the hotel, Bloom!, hints at what one will be able to see there, so it comes as no surprise that most rooms have murals depicting different flowers. Some murals in some rooms are conceptual art, while others have a more minimalist style or a fantasy theme. All rooms have been designed by students from ELIA, the European League of the Institutes of the Arts, an organization which works with more than 350 art schools in around fifty different countries. The walls are covered in frescoes, pictures or graffiti of flowers, plants, symbolism or curious designs. Even the smallest details follow each room’s theme, since the tea cups in each room also have a similar design to the rooms.

The hotel also has 1300 square metres of recently renovated meeting space, where guests can host business meeting or conferences. The twelve conference rooms are spread out between three floors. Some conference rooms are larger than others, and all have plenty of natural light,  coffee, tea and water served at all hours, as well as a Meeting Lounge designed for taking small breaks. Guests who want to stay at this creative hotel will first have to take a walk to investigate the multiple stairs, tunnels and passageways in and out of the building. Each room follows a different theme, and each theme is dedicated to an animal or a species. Some of the most enthralling rooms include the Eagle Room, with a statue of an enormous eagle standing on top of an equally enormous egg, or the Ant Room, decorated with large pictures of the insects that look like they are trying to climb across the room’s walls. Each room is equipped with all the necessary furniture and amenities in order to ensure a comfortable stay.

The Chimney Hall is usually seen as the living room of the hotel. This hall is decorated with many comfortable sofas, armchairs and coffee tables. A large French chimney fills one of the walls, and is usually lit every evening. Most of the time, guests will also be able to enjoy various art exhibitions and other cultural events set up in this room.

A Guest House in a Charter House

The Cartuja de Cazalla hotel is a small and slightly unusual hotel in an ancient charterhouse in Cazalla de la Sierra, in Seville, Spain. The century old Carthusian monastery used to belong to the Order of the Carthusians, and is located in the Northern Sierra of Seville.

The hotel is located in a very quiet and picturesque place. The historical monastery was built on a natural plateau, which in turn has thick walls and a 30 mere cliff guarding its perimeter. Those tourists who would like to stay here will have the best views of the Sierra Morena, and will enjoy sundowns and sunrises from the very heart of the Sevillian Sierra.

Near the hotel, tourists can find a natural water source and enjoy the amazing views around them. This site is considered to be a site of historical importance, since centuries ago it was a holy place for religious gatherings. Studies have managed to confirm that this site already existed before the Phoenicians opened the Silver Route. Nearby, one can still find the ruins of antique mosques and houses dating from the VIIIth Century, as well as some old mills.

The old building where the hotel is now used to be a mosque, and later on became a hunting house for the King. By the start of the XVth century, the building became the Monastery of the Jeronimos, and by the end of the XVth Century, the monastery became the Monastery of the Carthusian Order. The small decorated chapel then became known as the Pilgrim Chapel.

In the 1970’s, the building was bought, and was conserved as an historic building which housed the Center of Contemporary Art and Culture. It wasn’t until years later that the building was transformed into a small and comfortable hotel.

The hotel has a total of four suites in the monastery, as well as two individual rooms and eight double rooms in a small annex called the Hospederia. Each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom and comfortable furniture. Another house on the hotels territory, the Gardeners House, is ideal for accommodating large families or groups, and has two bedrooms, a large living room, a kitchen and a bathroom.

Price per night can vary depending on the type of room or the season. An individual room costs 50€ per night, while a double room costs 80€ per night. Each suite costs 120€ per night, while the Gardeners House, which can accommodate up to five people, costs 300€ a night. Each extra bed costs 17€. However, prices can change, and cost per night is lower after the first night.

The hotel also has its own restaurant, where one can try and savour the best local meals. Most of the products used are ecologic, including poultry, meat, eggs and even vegetables, which grow in the hotel gardens.

This historic place also offers its guests many entertainment options. Guests can take long walks around the countryside, watch the sundowns and sunrises, and relax in the hotel garden. This hotel also organizes several art exhibits and even has a concert room. The hotel also has its own art gallery which has several different art collections by various local artists, and guests can enjoy arts and crafts classes. Guests can also participate in activities such as swimming in the hotel pool or horseriding.
