The Modulhotel Swiss Tubes is a hotel located on the banks of Lake Thun, in Switzerland. At this hotel guests will be able to sleep in rooms designed as huge tubes with big round windows and views towards the lake and the campsite.
The Modulhotel is located in a vast camping area and is made up of five huge modern industrial tubes that have been transformed into hotel rooms. Each tube is a separate room with several beds, a private bathroom, a large wardrobe with a luggage rack, and a large window with views towards Lake Thun.
The five tubes that form this hotel have a maximum capacity of 30 people. The rooms can accommodate either four, six or eight guests. All rooms have a large wardrobe with enough space for suitcases, a bathroom, and several bunk beds near a large, round window. The beds can be either bunk beds or individual beds. The bathrooms are modern and have a shower. Price is usually 49€ per child per night and 65€ per adult per night. Guests can choose between several breakfast options for an extra fee. The rooms have views either towards the lake or the mountains.
The hotel has a restaurant with a terrace which has views towards the hotel’s gardens. The hotel’s large territory has direct access to the lake as well as a separate children’s playground. Guests will be able to enjoy many outdoor activities such as different water sports, swimming in the lake, honing their windsurf skills or taking long walks in the the lake shore and the garden. Nearby guests will find the Bonstetten park.
The Thunersee Restaurant offers guests a wide range of menus. The price for a small breakfast is 9.50€ per person, while a large breakfast costs 12.50€ per person. Those who choose to eat both breakfast and lunch at the hotel will only pay 24€ per day. A breakfast, lunch and dinner cost 36€ per day. The restaurant has many healthy options, most of them regional dishes that change according to the season, and serves many delicious, freshly baked pastries made directly at the hotel.
The hotel has a camping shop where guests will be able to buy any necessary camping equipment. The shop sells tents, portable kitchens and other equipment, and has its own bakery which serves fresh bread, such as traditional Zopf bread, every Sunday. Guests who want to go camping can buy fresh marinated meat for barbecues, as well as soft drinks, fresh fruit and vegetables and newspapers and magazines.
The hotel is well connected with the city as there is a bus stop just outside the entrance and bicycles can be rented at the hotel. Ferryboats cross the lake several times a day, allowing guests to visit other coastal cities. Guests will be able to visit the nearby city of Thun or enjoy a relaxing day lounging on the hotel’s private beach. The hotel has a small dock where private and company ships can be docked.
Near the hotel there are several sports facilities where guests will be able to practice a range of activities such as tennis, mini golf, horse riding and sailing the lake by boat. Excursions and boat trips across Lake Thun can be organized. Guests will be able to visit the nearby region of Bernese Oberland, known for its views, or else rent a car and drive the short half hour distance towards the country’s capital city.
